This page provides details around dosage and administration, so that you can set your horse up for success. For them to benefit from the greatest anti-inflammatory and antioxidant support, we strongly recommend you adhere to the guidelines below, as these have been determined using data from over 30 clinical studies.
If this is your horse's first time using Rose-Hip Vital, you might not have heard about our loading and maintenance doses. The difference is outlined here:
The Loading Dose – double the maintenance dose, taken for the first 4 weeks
The Maintenance Dose – your horse's regular dose, which they continue after finishing the loading dose
Key studies undertaken on Rose-Hip Vital indicate that a double dose for your horse's first 4 weeks has a significant impact on how soon they experience results. We recommend that all new equine users follow our loading dosage guidelines, so that they can experience improved mobility and less joint point as quickly as possible.
Typically, results are noticed at the end of the 4-week loading dose period.
Start with the Loading Dose for the first 4 weeks, then drop to the Maintenance Dose ongoing. The Loading Dose is a system kickstarter so your horse can begin their journey on the right hoof. Results are typically noticed after 3 weeks on the Loading Dose.
Mix Rose-Hip Vital powder with your horses feed. Do not mix with hot feed or hot liquid.
If your horse feeds twice a day, mix half the recommended dosage into the mornings feed and the remaining into the evening feed. If your horse feeds once daily, mix full recommended dosage into feed.
Dosage for horses is based on their weight.
Loading Dose: 10g per 100kg of bodyweight for the first 4 weeks.
Maintenance Dose: 5g per 100kg of bodyweight ongoing.
25g scoop included.
Horses find Rose-Hip Vital powder delicious! You should have no trouble simply adding it to their regular feed.
Rose-Hip Vital is heat-sensitive, so avoid mixing it with hot foods or liquids as this will diminish the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits of your powder.
If your horse eats twice a day, it's a good idea to split their recommended daily dose between their morning and evening meal. Alternatively, if they only eat one meal daily, you can mix their entire daily dose into a single meal.
Typically, Rose-Hip Vital Equine is incredibly well-tolerated. We've heard many stories of entire tubs being cleaned out when they've been left lying around with the lid off!
Based on overwhelming feedback from our community, you should have no trouble getting your horse to eat Rose-Hip Vital – but just in case you do, we have some things you could try.
Start by introducing a teaspoon of powder into your horse's food. Slowly increase this amount each day to build up their tolerance and ensure their stomach has time to adjust to the supplement. Increase the dose until you reach their recommended loading dose. Continue the loading dose for four weeks, and then drop back to their recommended maintenance dose.
