Here are 4 of our favourite hauntingly healthy snacks that are as fun to make as they are to eat to help get you inspired!
Veggie Skeleton
What better way to get your kids excited about eating their veggies than a cool veggie skeleton. Let them help arrange the vegetables and get involved in the process. All you will need is a vegie dip of your choice and a selection of vegetables such as celery sticks, carrots, cucumbers, mushrooms, capsicum or some snow peas. You can also give your skeleton some eyes with olives or some hair with lettuce leaves.
Jack-O-Lantern Smoothies
These healthy fruit (or vegetable!) concoctions make the perfect breakfast or snack especially in spring! All you need is your favourite orange coloured smoothie or juice recipe, some clear disposable cups and a permanent marker. Decorate your cup with a Jack-O-Lantern face, blend up your smoothie or juice and serve! Some of our favourite ingredients include carrots, oranges, mangoes or pineapples why not check out this mango smoothie recipe for some ideas.
Boo-nana Ghost Pops
This simple and easy to make treat is great if you have plenty of bananas hanging out in your fruit bowl. The first step is to freeze your already peeled bananas for a few hours and once frozen, cut each banana into halves. Insert a Popsicle stick or skewer into each half, then dip into some yoghurt of your choice and cover with shredded coconut. For the eyes you can use either dark chocolate chips or some raisins and voila- You have yourself a boo-nana!
Apple Monster Bites
These monster bites are almost too cute to eat! All you need are some green apples cut into quarters, peanut butter (or any spread of your choice), some sunflower seeds or silvered almonds and strawberries. On the skin side of the apple, carefully cut a wedge in your desired amount of apple slices, spread the peanut through the middle and adorn with the sunflower seeds, almond silvers and some strawberries.
