How Mogo Wildlife Park Uses Rose-Hip Vital to Support Joint Health

In 1999, Mogo’s breeding programs led to the successful breeding of snow leopards. Along with snow leopards, the zoo is home to other rare species, including the red panda and white lion; and this list of exotic inhabitants continues to change and grow every year.

In 2017, Rose-Hip Vital was introduced to a number of the Wildlife Park’s residents as a nutritional and anti-inflammatory supplement. Many of Mogo’s residents were experiencing stiffness, age-related mobility issues and lameness.

Tanzi

This is Tanzi, a Rothschild giraffe that resides at Mogo. At 22 years old, Tanzi's in her twilight years. She has some age-related joint issues, including arthritis. Part of her treatment includes 2 scoops of Rose-Hip Vital in her morning pellets and again in her afternoon pellets.

Nadine & Dolly

Nadine and Dolly are two female common ostrich. They're past their prime and have some mild age-related joint issues especially on cold winter mornings. As part of their treatment they're given a scoop of Rose-Hip Vital once daily mixed in their food.

Mafuta

Mafuta is a very handsome 18 year old white lion.

As he has aged, his back legs have displayed periodic stiffness, which worsens in cold weather. He was being treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatories during winter. Mafuta started taking Rose-Hip Vital in 2017 and his movement has steadily improved - now he's able to resume his favourite activity of playfully chasing keepers walking beside his enclosure! He also no longer needs his non-steroidal winter anti-inflammatories!

G-Anne & Kriba

G-Anne and Kriba (both 45) are Gorillas who've been on Rose-Hip Vital since 2018 to boost their vitamin, mineral and antioxidant intake in their older years, as well as to assist with age-related mobility issues.

Both Gorillas continue to experience improved mobility since starting on Rose-Hip Vital which helps them keep up with the newest youngsters in the Gorilla troop, enabling them to perform nanny duties with ease.

Fern

Fern (44) is the oldest of Mogo Wildlife Park's Siamang Gibbons. She's been taking Rose-Hip Vital to help with age-related arthritis and not only is she thriving on it, but she loves the taste, too! She prefers to take her daily dose in a piece of banana but often licks the Rose-Hip Vital straight out of the middle first. She continues to amaze us with her improved mobility into her senior years.

Truman & Icara

Truman (22) and Icara (23) are Mogo Wildlife Parks oldest pair of Cotton Top Tamarins. Previously, Icara had been experiencing stiffness in her hind legs that was making it difficult for her to keep up with the group.

Since starting on Rose-Hip Vital, both Truman and Icara have experienced vast improvement in their mobility and overall health and wellbeing. Icara is now able to move freely and keep pace with the rest of the younger Cotton Top Tamarin family. It’s also believed their daily dose of Rose-Hip Vital is responsible for them thriving into such an old age.
