I think it’s working. Can I give more?

I think it's working. Can I give more Rose-Hip Vital Canine?

At Rose-Hip Vital Canine, we recommend an initial loading dose, followed by a maintenance dose, to get your dog started on our programme with their best paw forward.

But what if this programme doesn’t work for your family?

Perhaps you’ve found that after three weeks, you’re not seeing the improved results you expected. Perhaps your dog is a larger breed, and you’re worried they still need more time to kickstart their powerful system. Perhaps your dog is recovering from injury, and three weeks isn’t enough time to supplement their long road to recovery.

We’re here to reassure you that if you fall into one of these categories, or if the loading dose simply hasn’t delivered the expected results just yet, it’s ok to carry on with the higher dose for a little longer. In fact, our programme is more flexible than most people realise!

Why we have a loading dose

Our loading dose is a system kickstarter.

By bolstering the initial dose, your dog is able to see faster results and enjoy benefits much sooner.

Generally, we recommend a loading dose period of three weeks, which means doubling the daily recommended dose for your dog, based on their weight range. For a 10 kilo dog, this would be 2 scoops a day.

Why you might choose to extend the loading dose

Typically after three weeks, most of our users report a noticeable improvement in their dog’s overall health and wellbeing. If their dog had been suffering from visible joint pain, improved mobility can already be seen after this first loading period.

Sometimes this isn’t the case, and that’s ok. That’s why we’re here to help!

There may be certain situations that are unique to your family that mean the loading dose might need to be extended. Here we’ll take a look at a few of the more common situations we come across.

Your dog may be over 50kgs

Some of our heavier dogs will remain on the loading dose indefinitely, rather than dropping to a maintenance dose after three weeks. This is perfectly safe to do. Don’t forget, Rose-Hip Vital Canine is wholly plant-based with no known side effects or contraindications, so there’s no risk of overdosing your dog. Many of our larger-breed dog owners simply find the best results when using the highest dose, and choose to keep it up so their companion can continue to enjoy the wonderful benefits.

Your dog suffers from severe joint inflammation

If your dog suffers from severe joint pain, three weeks may not be enough time to undo the significant damage of prolonged strain and inflammation. In this case, it’s ok to continue on the higher loading dose for another three weeks, and then reassess progress again; or simply to continue on a higher loading dose to help your dog stave off pain indefinitely.

Your dog is recovering from an injury

If your dog is recovering from an injury, maintaining the higher loading dose will help their system fight against the white blood cells that accumulate around inflamed tissue. Too much white blood cell accumulation can lead to a cycle of inflammation, which will hinder your dog’s recovery. The added support of natural vitamin C and high levels of antioxidants in Rose-Hip Vital Canine will also aid your dog in their recovery.

The weather is cooler, and your dog is suffering from stiff joints

In the cooler months, it’s not unusual for dogs to experience increased joint pain, just as humans do! Colder temperatures can put increased stress on vulnerable joints, so increasing to the loading dose can be a good idea to boost their vitamin and antioxidant intake, ultimately bolstering their immune system response.

You’ve dropped back to the maintenance dose, but noticed their condition has worsened

Sometimes you might have happily noticed an improvement in your dog’s health and wellbeing, but after dropping down to the maintenance dose, you’ve noticed a slip backwards in their progress. In this case, it’s perfectly safe to increase dosage back up to the loading dose and carry on for another few weeks. After this, slowly decrease the dose again to find the optimal dosage for your dog. Sometimes, dogs simply need a little longer than three weeks to completely reset their system so they can enjoy their increased health long term.

How to determine your dog's dosage at home

It’s important to remember when deciding how much Rose-Hip Vital Canine to administer to your dog at home, that Rose-Hip Vital Canine is a completely natural, plant-based product. It has no known side effects and no contraindications, so you’re at no risk of overdosing your dog. If you do end up giving them too much, their system will simply excrete it as waste. (You’ll be able to tell this by the colour of their poo, which will have an orange Rose-Hip Vital tinge!)

If you decide that a second-run of the loading dose isn’t necessary, but you’d still like to up their daily dose, we recommend increasing only slightly, and monitoring the response in their mood, wellbeing and excretions. A great way to do this is by recording your dog on video (if you’re anything like us, this is probably something you already do, anyway!)

A good place to start is one extra scoop per day, increasing to 2 if you still feel there’s room for improvement.

We’re so confident that you’ll find the right fit for your furry best friend that we offer a 100% Money Back Guarantee on our 150g + 500g Rose-Hip Vital Canine powders.
