Tell us about your Rose-Hip Vital journey
When I applied to work part-time at Rose-Hip Vital assisting with their PR and communications I didn’t know a lot about the benefits of Rosehip. I wanted to work not far from home, in-house for a brand in the health and wellness space – it was a perfect fit. Almost three years on I am full time working across all the brands communications including media relations, social media, newsletters, the website and this blog. The business has evolved a lot and it has been exciting to share the journey and be involved in the growth of the business. Most importantly I love working for a brand that offers people a relief from health issues naturally. Now that I understand the benefits Rosehip offers the body, it is a natural product I will remain using always. I am looking forward to continuing to educate people on the benefits of Rosehip and working with the team on growing the brand further.
Why do you love working for a brand that offers better health to its customers?
Working in the health and wellness industry is where I have discovered I want to be. Being part of a team that offers natural products that benefit people and animals health is a positive place to be. We all love that our family and friends are benefiting in many ways from the taking Rose-Hip Vital and it’s such a positive environment to be in a business that makes a difference in peoples’ lives. I couldn’t work for brands that I didn’t believe in!
What do you love to do out of work?
I live near the beautiful beaches in Sydney so my husband and our two kids live a beach lifestyle. We get down to the coastline most days even if it’s just to take a few deep breathes of the ocean air. A favourite saying of mine is “Being by the sea brings me back to me.” We encourage the kids to stay active and my husband competes in triathlons and now our son is following in his footsteps which means our weekends, and often morning or evenings mid-week, include walks and runs by the beach, a swim in the local pool or the ocean, and bike rides. I also do pilates once a week and sometimes yoga. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and we love to travel when we can. What is great about my husband doing triathlons is we get to visit new destinations as we follow the races. I read a lot (both fiction and non-fiction) and I soak up all things health and wellness in magazines and online. My new addiction is podcasts! They are such an amazing way to educate and be inspired while on the road. I also love going to our local organic markets and discovering new health and wellness brands.
What are your main reasons for taking Rose-Hip Vital daily.
The minute I started working at Rose-Hip Vital I realised my husband should be taking it. He races in long-course triathlons so trains daily either swimming, cycling or running. The powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties I knew could only help his joints and with recovery. In particular, he has a shoulder issue that is persistent and the only relief was via a cortisone injection if he wanted to keep swimming. He started taking Rose-Hip Vital and three years on he has not needed another injection! What I love is that I have him as a real-life reference for me on how our product can help the body. (You can read Peter’s testimonial here.) He had weeks where he has forgotten to take the capsules and then the pain returns. The minute he takes them again regularly the pain subsides. For someone who can be sceptical at times on the effectiveness of supplements and treatments, he has seen first-hand the results – so he is converted! On top of that it is just a great all round super food. Hence, I take it daily either as capsules or a scoop in my morning smoothie, and I up the dose if I feel l am getting sick or if I am feeling some aches and pain – more regularly as the years go on! There are so many benefits to your health and most importantly it’s how it helps inflammation in the body. Inflammation in the body results in sickness and disease so anything natural that can help inflammation should be in your daily diet. I also try and throw it into my kids smoothies, yogurt or cereal for their general wellbeing and for the natural vitamin C benefit, and our 16 year old cat has the Rose-Hip Vital Canine powder added to his food which I can see has improved a limp that started to appear this year and has improved his fur quality – I hope it’s helping his kidney issues too!
What are some of your top wellness tips and healthy habits?
Balance is the key – you need to divide your time between work, family, friends, your partner, exercise and give yourself some ME time!
Eat whole foods, buy organic when you can and avoid processed sugars and carbs – Our family converted to this type of diet about 18 mths ago and it has been amazing for all of us. Our health, our skin, our moods – diet and gut health is the key!
Get outdoors and breathe in the fresh sea or bush air regularly – It can change your mood instantly.
Make time for exercise – not just for fitness and health, but also as a de-stressor. I have periods where I find it hard to make time and I my energy levels are low. It’s not always easy getting up early to exercise before work but I never regret it! I see how dedicated my husband is to his sport and how he fits in time every day for exercise and it inspires me to do the same.
Don’t sweat the small stuff – When life gets crazy step back and decide what’s most important. It’s not worth the stress of making issues out of little things, especially when it comes to kids!
We are role models for our kids – Be aware always that what you do for yourself and your health is teaching your kids what’s important in life.
Start your day with apple cider vinegar or lemon in water.
Learn to love green smoothies and to get greens into every meal –I believe that my health has improved thanks to eating more vegetables. It’s struggle with kids but I’ll get there!
Health is #1 priority – if you aren’t feeling well in yourself, you better change up your routine and fit in what keeps you healthy.
Do what you love.
Get rid of products in your home that are filled with toxins!
What advice would you would you give to your younger self?
All of the above!! And here are a few more things….
- Don’t be afraid to travel the world and experience life beyond where you grew up.
- Challenge yourself. It’s OK to feel the fear and do it anyway!
- Be in the moment. Don’t worry about what’s ahead just appreciate where you are now.
- Take a step back and slow down. You can’t do it all.
- It’s OK to say no.
- Follow your passions.
- Believe in yourself.
